Package: caja-dropbox
Version: 1.16.0-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

* What led up to the situation?
Regular update of package caja-dropbox from 1.16 to 1.20 at Debian buster
(testing), MATE DE

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
I just installed update. Btw, when downgrade to 1.16, everything is OK again. I
tried few times to be completely sure that caja-dropbox is the cose of this
behaviour. Now I have freezed the package.

* What was the outcome of this action?
Dropbox options and actions from dropdown (actually, for me it is rising menu,
because I have panel in bottom of desktop) menu are not usable. There is only
pixel or two of visible menu, hardly even seen.

* What outcome did you expect instead?
Dropdown menu with options.

What version is impacted for you ? 1.16 or 1.20 or both ? In the subject
you talk about 1.20 and in the report the version field is 1.16.0-1.

Best regards,
Alex.

Package: caja-dropbox
Version: 1.20.0-2
Followup-For: Bug #893163

Hi.

I also have this problem. Contrary to what Martin Wimpress said at
https://github.com/mate-desktop/caja-dropbox/issues/27#issuecomment-373908072,
I have the exact problem described by the original poster here on Debian,
with my system as up-to-date as possible.

Just for the record, I'm not using any indicator applet (to be sure, I
always get confused between this indicator vs. notification thing).

Also, I'm not sure if the workaround suggested at
https://github.com/mate-desktop/caja-dropbox/issues/27#issuecomment-373982493
is supposed to fix things only for those people using the indicator applet
or to everybody, but I just did the following at a terminal and the dropdown
menus continue with the same problem:

export XDG_DESKTOP_SESSION=Unity
caja-dropbox start

Should I do anything else?

Thanks in advance,

Rogério Brito.

Hi,

I have noticed that the latest version of caja-dropbox (1.20.0-2) in Debian
testing poses tray-icon problem, i.e., when I click on the tray-icon all I
get is a blank column.

I tried various other methods to get it work, in the end got frustrated so
much that I wanted to see if the earlier version of caja-dropbox (1.20.0-1)
works as intended, and to my surprise it does - the tray-icon is back now.

Thanks.

best regards,

Subramanian

Hello AR Subramanian,

Thank you for the report.

I've added Martin in CC that has already work on such issue for Ubuntu.
I assume it's pretty the same.

Best regards,
Alex.

Hi,

So, everyone seems to have this issue exactly with version 1.20.0-2. It's the version
where 2003_fake_xdg_current_desktop.patch had been added [1]. I've done some testing
and I can say this patch does the wrong thing. See my comment with screenshot at [2]
for more info.

Therefore I suggest removing that patch.

Side note: in [2] I've mentioned only testing in Ubuntu-based system, but I've got
the same result in current Debian Testing.

Yes, only remove it. My tests showed that it's enough to fix the menu (as I wrote
in the upstream report).
