Discussion:
Bug#766039: please document debug-shell.service in README.Debian
(too old to reply)

Package: systemd
Version: 215-5+b1
Severity: wishlist
Please document in README.Debian information about how to enable the
debug-shell service for debugging bootup/shutdown problems. Something like the
systemctl enable debug-shell.service
For shutdown problems
systemctl start debug-shell.service
This enables a debug shell on tty9.
Then look at the output of systemctl list-jobs to figure out which bit is
hanging on shutdown/startup and start digging from there.
systemd.debug-shell on the command-line is often a better option.

Hello all,

I now created a first version in README:

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-systemd/systemd.git/commit/?id=a635f431aff

Amendments/corrections appreciated, of course!

Thanks,

Martin

Hey Zbyszek,
I'd change s/then immediately run... again/then immediately run... afterwards/
in the third paragraph. Some people might literally do it right after enabling
it.
In the fourth paragraph, I'd also advertise "systemctl list-jobs".
Indeed, thanks for pointing out!
