Package: kdsoap
Version: 1.9.1+dfsg-5
Severity: important

Hi,

I'd like to salvage kdsoap and bring it under collaborative
maintenance (the Debian Qt/KDE Team). You can read about the package
salvaging procedure here:

https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/pkgs.en.html#package-salvaging

In the case of kdsoap, multiple criteria apply:

* Five upstream releases haven't been imported
* The package has seen no activity in almost three years
* Multiple bugs were not replied to (nor triaged) by the maintainer
* #1074108 appears to result in KDE Plasma users not being able to
browse SMB shares, and this would be a regression from over a decade of Debian
releases. Thus the 2.x upload of kdsoap needs to happen ASAP with the approaching
trixie freeze.

Regards,
Nicholas

P.S. To any Qt/KDE Team member: Please feel free to take over this
ITS. I've filed it because I became aware of the issue only today, and
because the salvage procedure is slow (and fair).

Hi Nicholas,

any progress on this ?
With the Qt6 KDE stack in testing now we get regular complaints about the missing smb:// features that require kdsoap.

If you can manage to get it updated that would be appreciated.

Thanks !
